We first rescued ‘Annie’ when she was 11 years old and she came back to us in 2009, when her ‘Mum’ went into hospital and sadly passed away. Jean had Annie from us 8 years previously and she worshipped the ground she walked on. ‘Annie’s’ story didn’t end there – she soon captured the hearts of Sue and Malcolm and set off to take over their lives !! None of us could have imagined that ‘Annie’ would continue her little life for another 3 years – but she did and she filled every day with great joy. There is great sadness with the passing of dear ‘Annie,’ but so many happy memories of a very special little cat. Thank You ‘Annie’ for letting us all share your life – you are gone but will always be remembered.
A POEM FOR ANNIE 2009
Dear Annie you were sad when your ‘mum’ died
But you had Nikki on your side
She took you home and gave you love
Knowing Jean was smiling up above
The moment we met you we wanted to take you home
There and then not wait for Nikki to phone
I believe Nikki rescued you just for us
Come home with us now and share our love
You leant against Malcolm with your head
Resting it gently on his leg
You knew this big man was for you
What luck not one person to take you home but two
My heart melted as you snuggled into my arms
Showing me love flaunting your charms
Your purr is loud and you coo like a dove
I feel your warmth I feel your love
Whatever time we have I will treasure
Our love for each other we cannot measure
It may be months I hope it will be years
With lots of fun and some tears
Annie you have mended my broken heart
We are now together never apart
Even when the day comes to say goodbye
You will always be in my soul never to die
You looked into my eyes you looked at my face
You knew in my heart there would be a place
I did not rescue you Annie, you see
I believe it was you who rescued me
