CAT CRISIS!!!!!!!!!!

We are running this Special Scheme for low income families, and at the same time trying to help address the ‘Cat Crisis’ on the Island. This is a National problem, and we fear it will get even worse this year as the recession bites. We need to bring this to the notice of all cat owners, so everyone can pull together to help solve this very sad situation.

Last year saw several litters of kittens heartlessly abandoned in cardboard boxes and bags – most, thankfully were found and taken into care – but what about those that were not found in time?

Indiscriminate breeding is one of the biggest problems and more health issues also come to light as a result.

PLEASE – PLEASE – PLEASE help us to address this situation and in turn not only reduce the number of unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens but also as a knock on effect reduce the cases if cruelty and neglect.

The Internet adds to the problem of animals being sold for profit, because it is totally free and can be used widely on the Island and also on the mainland, which unfortunately encourages people to breed and the situation escalates from there. Some of these animals are being kept in very poor conditions and are just being used as breeding machines with little or no regard for their welfare

 

We also offer a Microchipping service which runs alongside the Neutering Scheme. Your pet can be microchipped under anaesthetic while being neutered or spayed. Microchipping is the safest and most reliable way to identify your pet, it is also permanent. No more lost collars and no risk of a collar being caught causing injury or worse.
